About the role:

The Senior Manager, Enterprise Technology Architecture is a strategic technology leader responsible for defining and advancing the enterprise technology vision, architecture roadmap, and application strategy across business-critical platforms. This role partners closely with business and IT leadership to drive digital transformation, modernize enterprise capabilities, and ensure technology investments support corporate growth, operational excellence, innovation, and long-term business objectives.

This position provides leadership across enterprise architecture, SAP platforms, enterprise integrations, analytics, and data platforms. As chair of the Enterprise Architecture Board, the role establishes governance frameworks, technology standards, and architectural best practices that enable scalable, secure, and agile business solutions.

The Senior Manager combines strategic planning, technology innovation, architecture governance, and operational leadership while building a high-performing team of architects and technology professionals capable of supporting the organization's evolving business needs. The role also evaluates emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and intelligent automation capabilities, to identify opportunities that support business growth, operational efficiency, and technology modernization.

Responsibilities

1. Enterprise Architecture Leadership & Governance

  • Lead the Enterprise Architecture function and establish the long-term technology vision for the organization.
  • Define and maintain enterprise architecture principles, standards, governance processes, and reference architectures.
  • Develop future-state architecture roadmaps aligned with business strategy, growth objectives, and digital transformation priorities.
  • Establish governance frameworks that ensure technology solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective.
  • Partner with the CIO and IT leadership team to define and execute the enterprise technology strategy.
  • Review and approve solution architectures, technology investments, and major application initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment between business capabilities, applications, data, infrastructure, security, and integration strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology direction, investment priorities, and innovation opportunities.
  • Chair the Enterprise Architecture Board and drive consistent decision-making across the enterprise technology landscape.

2. Technology Strategy, Innovation & Digital Transformation

  • Lead enterprise technology modernization initiatives that improve operational efficiency, business agility, and user experience.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and rationalize the application portfolio while reducing technical debt.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, automation, and advanced analytics, and provide recommendations aligned with business strategy and architectural standards.
  • Develop technology investment strategies that balance innovation, risk management, business value, and operational sustainability.
  • Drive adoption of modern architecture practices that enable scalability, flexibility, and faster business outcomes.
  • Lead strategic technology assessments and roadmap development for enterprise-wide transformation programs.
  • Partner with business and IT leaders to identify opportunities where emerging technologies can improve productivity, user experience, and operational effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technology excellence.

3. Enterprise Applications & Solution Architecture

  • Own the end-to-end enterprise application architecture across SAP, analytics, and integration platforms.
  • Define and maintain the enterprise application strategy and roadmap in alignment with business priorities.
  • Ensure effective integration across SAP and non-SAP applications, external partners, EDI, cloud services, and enterprise platforms.
  • Provide architectural leadership for large-scale business transformation programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Establish best practices for application design, integration, modernization, and lifecycle management.
  • Guide solution architecture activities to ensure consistency with enterprise standards and business objectives.
  • Support application portfolio management and technology lifecycle planning.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure secure and resilient solutions.

4. SAP Platform & Enterprise Systems Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership for SAP application architecture, platform operations, and technology roadmaps.
  • Oversee SAP technologies, including SAP S/4HANA, BTP, PI/PO, ABAP, NetWeaver, SAPUI5, and related platforms.
  • Lead platform modernization initiatives that improve performance, stability, scalability, and business value.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and security of critical SAP environments.
  • Manage strategic relationships with SAP vendors, consulting partners, and managed service providers.
  • Oversee major platform upgrades, architecture decisions, and enterprise integration strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement and optimization of enterprise application capabilities.

5. Enterprise Data, Analytics & AI

  • Define and execute the enterprise data and analytics strategy.
  • Establish technology direction for data platforms, reporting solutions, and advanced analytics capabilities.
  • Ensure enterprise analytics solutions enable effective, data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities to leverage predictive analytics, automation, and AI technologies.
  • Promote data governance practices that improve data quality, consistency, accessibility, and compliance.
  • Drive alignment between business objectives, analytics investments, and enterprise reporting capabilities.

6. Stakeholder Engagement & Organizational Leadership

  • Partner with business executives and functional leaders to identify technology opportunities that support business growth and operational effectiveness.
  • Build strong relationships across IT, business functions, and external partners.
  • Communicate technology strategy, architecture decisions, and investment recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop solution architects, technical leaders, and technology professionals.
  • Build organizational capabilities through coaching, succession planning, and professional development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Influence strategic decision-making across the enterprise through thought leadership and technology expertise.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise technology leadership, architecture, and application strategy.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing enterprise architecture, technology strategy, or application organizations.
  • Significant experience leading large-scale enterprise application environments, including SAP ecosystems.
  • Proven experience developing enterprise technology roadmaps and driving digital transformation initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, and cross-platform integration.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP technologies, enterprise applications, cloud platforms, and integration frameworks.
  • Experience governing large-scale application portfolios and complex technology landscapes.
  • Demonstrated success influencing executive stakeholders and leading cross-functional technology initiatives.
  • Experience managing strategic technology vendors and service providers.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Enterprise Architecture certification, such as TOGAF or equivalent.
  • SAP, Microsoft Azure, or cloud architecture certifications.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or major business transformation programs.
  • Experience within global manufacturing or industrial organizations.
  • Experience leading cloud transformation, application modernization, and AI-enabled initiatives.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, intelligent automation, and advanced analytics, and their application within enterprise environments.
