Role Overview:

The Account Manager Engineered Solutions & Polymer Solutions Northwest Europe is responsible for managing and developing the Engineered Solutions & Polymer Solutions business across Northwest Europe, including PMMA, Compounding, ABS, PS and SAN materials. The role has full accountability for achieving volume, margin and growth targets within an assigned customer portfolio with a revenue responsibility of approximately $50 million.

 

The position focuses on managing strategic and complex international key accounts, building strong customer relationships, leading commercial negotiations, identifying growth opportunities and delivering long-term value creation. The Account Manager works closely with customers and internal stakeholders to develop account strategies, drive business growth and ensure excellent customer service across key end-use markets.


 

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop assigned customer accounts to achieve sales, volume, margin and profitability targets.
  • Act as the primary commercial contact for customers and coordinate internal resources including TS&D, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Product Management and Logistics.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, decision makers, influencers and key stakeholders.
  • Develop customer-specific account strategies and execute growth plans aligned with business objectives.
  • Identify, assess and prioritize value growth opportunities and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Own the complete sales process including contracts, pricing agreements, rebates, volume commitments, forecasting and credit management.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and ensure successful execution of contractual agreements.
  • Provide accurate demand forecasts and maintain customer information through CRM tools and SalesForce.
  • Monitor and report account performance against agreed sales and profitability targets.
  • Drive commercial excellence through professional communication, reporting and account planning.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of new business and value growth projects.
  • Collect and communicate market intelligence regarding customers, competitors, industry trends and new business opportunities.
  • Support product specification activities and growth initiatives with converters, molders and contract manufacturers.
  • Collaborate closely with internal functions to deliver outstanding customer service and business results.
  • Represent the company at customer events, trade fairs, industry conferences and professional networking activities.

 

 

Qualifications

Education

  • Engineering degree with strong commercial capabilities, or a Business/Commercial degree with a strong affinity for plastics, chemistry and industrial markets.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience within the chemical, plastics or related industries.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a commercial or sales role.
  • Proven track record in account management, business development and commercial negotiations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of plastics markets, applications and customer value chains.
  • Understanding of polymer materials, plastics processing and industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent commercial, negotiation and business development skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Ability to manage complex customer situations and negotiate strategic agreements.
  • Strong analytical, planning and forecasting capabilities.
  • Customer-focused and results-oriented mindset.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Good financial and business acumen.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools and SalesForce.
  • Fluent in English and German; additional European languages are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region (approximately 50–60%).
