Role Overview:

 

The Commercial Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth, developing customer relationships, and leading commercial activities within the recycled plastics business. The role focuses on maximizing revenue, securing long-term supply and sales agreements, expanding market presence, and ensuring commercial alignment between procurement, operations, and customers. This job will purpose accelerating the circular plastics economy by connecting suppliers, recyclers, and customers through innovative commercial solutions.

The Commercial Manager will play a key role in positioning Heathland as a preferred partner in the circular plastics economy.

 

This role is offered as an initial 12-month contract, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent opportunity

Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across recycled plastic markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with converters, compounders, manufacturers, traders, and brand owners.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle, including prospecting, negotiations, contract management, and account development.
  • Develop strategic partnerships that support long-term business growth.

Market & Customer Management

  • Monitor market trends, pricing developments, regulations, and competitive activities within the plastics recycling industry.
  • Analyze customer requirements and develop tailored commercial solutions.
  • Act as the primary commercial contact for key accounts.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.

 

Procurement & Supply Management

  • Support sourcing strategies for plastic waste streams and recycled polymer feedstocks.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements with suppliers and recycling partners.
  • Balance supply availability with customer demand to optimize margins and operational efficiency.

Commercial Strategy

  • Develop annual sales forecasts, budgets, and business plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability through product portfolio optimization and market expansion.
  • Collaborate with operations and production teams to align commercial commitments with production capabilities.
  • Lead pricing strategies and margin management initiatives.

Contract & Risk Management

  • Negotiate commercial contracts, terms, and pricing agreements.
  • Assess commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and contractual obligations.

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Track and report key commercial KPIs, including sales volumes, revenue, gross margin, customer retention, and pipeline development.
  • Prepare regular management reports and market intelligence updates.
  • Support strategic decision-making through data analysis and business insights.

Qualifications

  • Commercial experience within plastics, recycling, packaging, polymers, waste management, or related industries.
  • Proven track record in sales, business development, account management, and commercial negotiations.
  • Network with recycled polymers market and experience with polymers such as PS/rPS, ABS/rABS, SAN, PC, PMMA  or other recycle and sustainable material solutions is highly desirable.

  • Fluent in English language is requested , having German  as second language is advantage
