About the role:

This newly created role is responsible for leading the IT digital collaboration with the Finance organization.  The role is responsible for the management, direction, and integration of all Finance applications leveraged within Trinseo.  This individual will be the owner of IT’s relationship with the Finance organization and will be accountable for listening to the issues and desires across the entire team and working a clear/communicated prioritization effort.

 

In addition, this individual must have deep experience with all SAP modules that support the Record-to-Report (Finance) process area.  They will provide SAP Finance related technical leadership as they develop an architectural blueprint and product technology roadmap that aligns Trinseo’s IT, business goals and digital transformation with Trinseo finance department strategy. This role is charged with overseeing, defining, and monitoring critical path activities for day-to-day issue resolution, minor/major enhancements, and projects.  They will have a critical role engaging with Finance leaders to provide strategic guidance, execution strategy, through implementation and support.

 

The Senior Manager, Solution Architect will manage internal and external resources and proactively communicate and engage with other IT leaders, business leadership and other senior stakeholders to ensure appropriate integration of processes and modules across the enterprise.

The role will drive the design and implementation of new business processes within the organizational structure and lead the SAP Finance solution design in both SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, along with other business process related applications.

 

This position will have 3 direct reports (2 SAP Solution Analysts and 1 IT Business Partner) and 6 AMS resources. 

 

The role will also take the lead in defining and implementing the Digital transformation strategy and work closely with IT leadership team.

Responsibilities

Role Overview:

This role will be responsible for defining, deploying and managing IT solutions using SAP and other applications in the Record-to-Report (RTR) end-to-end process. Key process areas include:

General Accounting & Reporting , Finance Period-End closing, Product Costing / Controlling, Treasury, Credit Management, Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Intercompany Accounting and Reconciliations, Project Systems, Fixed Assets, Group Reporting, Bank Statement Management / Cash Application, Audit and Regulatory Reporting and Central Finance provided by SAP Finance modules in ECC and S/4HANA systems, Sovos, OneSource, Blackline, SAP Concur , SAP Document compliance and other finance systems.

The role will manage RTR solutions in two SAP ERP systems (SAP ECC 6 ehp7 and SAP S/4HANA 2023 versions).

 

Role Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager, Solution Architect candidate serves as the owner of it’s relationship with the Finance organization and will be accountable for listening to the issues and desires across the entire team and working a clear/communicated prioritization effort.

 

This includes:

  • Providing solution oversight, integration architecture, and architectural governance for product solutions in alignment with the enterprise architecture standards
  • Understanding the business strategy across the Finance organization and works with Finance stakeholders and the IT team to define business requirements
  • Owning accountability for partnering with key stakeholders to create technology solutions and technology roadmaps that are aligned to architecture principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet Trinseo financial targets (cost and benefits
  • Being accountable for all aspects of application solution development, including adherence to Trinseo IT standards in documentation, change / release management and SDLC processes. Accountable for solving complex technical problems and design issues in a timely manner. Supports multiple program and project-level deliverables simultaneously.  At times they will need to “roll up their sleeves” and provide detailed support to guide with issue resolution or to implement a value-add enhancement or transformation.
  • Being accountable for routine operational activities and service delivery of applicable third-party vendor providers
  • Mentoring architects and SAP analysts and IT Business Partners on various application design competencies and relationship management techniques
  • Researching and advising functional leadership about industry best practices, trends, and SAP/application functionality, in support of Trinseo IT strategy.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Information Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science, Finance or other related field; advanced degree preferred

• 15+ years of hands-on experience implementing (including hands-on configuration) and managing SAP Finance and Controlling (FICO) modules with minimum 2 full lifecycle implementations or complex integration projects in an SAP Finance Solutions Architecture lead role.

 

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Deep knowledge of SAP Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) modules in both SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA required. Key process areas include General Accounting & reporting, Finance period-end closing, Product Costing / Controlling, Treasury, Credit Management, Indirect tax, Transfer Pricing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Intercompany accounting and reconciliations, Project Systems, Fixed Assets, Group Reporting, Bank Statement management / Cash Application, audit and regulatory reporting and Central finance provided by SAP Finance modules in ECC and S/4HANA systems.
  • Solution architecture experience where Finance intersects with other end-to-end (E2E) business processes including Order-to-Cash, Manufacturing, Plant Maintenance, Source-to-Pay and Logistics
  • Experience in cross application business process modeling and integration with SAP and non-SAP solutions
  • Must be a relationship builder and capable of functioning with only limited oversight. Strong verbal and written communications skills and the ability to work effectively internally and externally
  • Knowledge of project management techniques; PMP and Six Sigma designation preferred
  • Demonstrates hands-on knowledge of Software development SDLC methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile)
  • Manages ambiguity well. Has a global outlook and develops local expertise while operating effectively in a geographically dispersed organization
  • Strong enterprise business acumen
  • Demonstrates strong listening, communications, alliance-building, negotiation, conflict management and influencing skills
