Role Overview:

The New Business Development Specialist will be instrumental in advancing Trinseo’s sustainability initiatives and driving business growth. This role involves identifying new opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and promoting sustainable practices both within the organization and to external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Strategy:

  • Help the Global Sustainability Business Development Leader to determine the vision, strategy, and pathway for sustainable materials, through a deep understanding of the market needs, regulatory changes, and TSE current and future capabilities.
  • Develops strategic external relationships (focus customers, commercial leads (OEMs, brand owners), media, industry, professional associations, working groups, etc.), as the future market is being defined by decisions at waste management and brands levels. This includes Authorities & Regulators that create the rules for the future industry.
  • Closely collaborates with other commercial sustainability key functions such as sustainability procurement, sustainability reporting, application development, technical sales, sales.  

Leadership:

  • Leads by influence the implementation of the recycling commercial strategy markets and geographies.
  • Lead the initiative projects across the Trinseo operational regions.
  • Leads the implementation of strategic initiatives. Contribute to the decision with the Global Sustainability Business Development Leader on all operational aspects (prioritization, price/volumes, partnership contract, etc.

Execution:

  • Responsible and Accountable for all financial and progress aspects of sustainable materials business development.
  • Determines key trends and needs of markets with regards to sustainability trends (what does “go green” mean for each market, prices resiliency for green products.) AND the capabilities and trends of upstream industries (bio-sourcing capabilities, recycling capabilities, etc.)
  • Influence external decisions in favor of our current/future products & services. Including material selection at Brand-Owners, collection, and sorting rules at Waste Management, as well as definitions and taxes at Authorities/Regulators/NGOs.
  • Determines and structures the communication of guidance, best practices, and coaching to the commercial teams.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science Economics, Sustainability Business, Engineering or similar
  • 3-5 years of commercial / business experience
