Project description

 

Trinseo Latex Binders Business at our location in Rheinmünster (Germany), near Strasbourg /Karlsruhe, is looking for a student to work on the development and optimization of analytical methods for the characterization of R&D polymer samples.

 

We are looking for a Chemist Student (Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry), who is interested in working in the field of analytical chemistry of polymers and has curiosity for analytical techniques (spectroscopy, spectrometry, …). Experience in analytical and preparative chemistry as well a good working knowledge of English will help you to become successful. Working in a chemical laboratory excites you and you do have a good command of computing skills (Windows/Microsoft office package), then apply.


You will start on September 1st 2025 for a period of 12 months. You will be remunerated.


For non-EU citizens, the candidate must have a valid visa and work permit for Germany to start the internship. 

Responsibilities

  • Learning of the lab specific safety procedures, analytical methods, emulsion polymer fundamentals and laboratory operating procedures.
  • Characterization of dispersions and other samples using instrumental analytical chemical techniques, like UV-VIS spectroscopy, FT-IR, LC/MSD and Pyrolysis - gas chromatography / mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MSD).
  • Spectra and data acquisition using characterized and unknown samples, data interpretation, creation of and contribution to searchable databases. Development of quantitative analytical chemical methods.
  • Close collaboration with the lab team.
  • Project presentation to the R&D Department at the end of the internship.

Qualifications

  • Master student in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.
  • Strong interest in working in the field of analytical chemistry of polymers. Curiosity for analytical techniques (spectroscopy, spectrometry, …).
  • Initiative and autonomy in carrying out the analytical experiments.
  • Good communication and interpersonal team skills.
  • Good working knowledge of English. German is not a must.
  • Good computing skills (Windows / Microsoft Office package).
